For the third (and juiciest) edition of Creative Spotlight, I’m delving into the foodies, chefs, and restaurant owners that you should know about. Food has always been a huge love of mine, whether that be eating or cooking it, so I implore you to keep reading if you want the know about the best, and hottest, people coming out of the industry.
NIL MUTLUER - CULINARY ARTIST & PRIVATE CHEF
Nil Mutluer, also known as Heal Goblin on Instagram, is a culinary artist, private chef, and co-founder of Soft Studies hosting events and dining experiences. At first glance, you would regard Nil as an artist, and you wouldn’t be wrong. Her work with food is something to behold as she balances soft and bright hues with hard-to-resist plating and seasonal ingredients from around the world. She’s recently catered events for Climax Books x The Face Magazine and designed a tablescape for a Merrell Footwear campaign. It’s no surprise her cooking is being utilised for aesthetics - between her personal style being something to behold and serving up fresh and clean plates, Nil Mutluer is testament to why the Food X Fashion crossover does work.
Based across London, Dublin, and Mallorca, Kitty Coles is a food editor that provides a moment of calm and tranquility. Her love of outdoor cooking set against backdrops of cliff edges, countryside windows, and sea-view balconies could, and does, entice an audience that envies to the point of inspiration (I’m speaking about my own envy here, clearly). If you need more inspiration beyond this, check out Kitty’s newsletter for The Gloss Mag which she has detailed the perfect packing list for cooking on your holiday, or flick through her cookbook ‘Make More With Less’ for flavours that combine the Mediterranean sunshine with at-home favourites.
YAROSLAVA MALKOVA - BRAND DIRECTOR
Being a Brand Director for one restaurant seems like job enough, but being a Brand Director for Nina, Bottarga, Pachamama, Zephyr, Naked and Famous Bar, and Soraya (in Dubai) seems the perfect amount for Yaroslava Malkova. I was first enticed by Yaroslava whilst following the journey of the opening of Nina in Marylebone over on TikTok. To witness this behind-the-scenes footage of before and afters with recipe testing felt like an insight into a world I’d longed to know - I have now visited Nina and can tell you the vibes are immaculate along with the food. As well as this, Yaroslava uses her foodie knowledge to review other restaurants, new and long-standing, to help you in your journey around (mostly West) London’s food scene.
Making cooking look sexy and effortless comes easy when you’re a chef and model like Emma Onuora. From Sweden and now based in Copenhagen, Emma has worked at Atelier September (it’s not overrated, I promise), been featured in ELLE Denmark, and cooked for Homeware Designer Gustaf Westman, whilst modelling for brands like Adidas and Puma. You might wish to be as multi-faceted, but if you want to at least broaden your cooking skills, head to Emma’s TikTok for quick lessons in dishes like Chicken and Shrimp Wontons, Braised Pork Belly, or the perrrrfect Omlette.
